Case 2: Bone Regeneration with Emdogain®
This patient was faced with losing this molar tooth due to the severe bone loss and deep pocket depth (10mm). He was given the option of surgery, or a painless regenerative perioscopy procedure to correct the infection. He chose RPE - Regenerative Periodontal Endoscopy involving a protein called Emdogain® to regenerate the lost bone.
Just three months after a simple RPE procedure, the bone had almost completely regenerated around this tooth. The periodontal pocket closed and healed completely.
This patient was very satisfied with the result. He suffered no post operative pain, discomfort, or sensitivity. This area was treated in under an hour and the total cost was significantly less than surgery. Preventatively, he will no longer need to have this tooth extracted and replaced with an implant or bridge.
