Case 7: Combined treatment to save “hopeless” abscessed front tooth

This patient was treatment planned for full mouth osseous surgery and an extraction of her front tooth - #8. Upon examination of the x-ray, an endodontic lesion (root tip abscess) was diagnosed. We performed a root canal in our clinic, with RPE the same day as the root canal therapy. A very efficient and definitive, combined treatment method.

The root canal therapy was performed the same day as the RPE treatment for best results by our doctor. This combined therapy is pioneering work in saving teeth deemed hopeless due to severe infection to the root apex, as well as to surrounding bone. The traditional approach for a tooth this advanced infection would be extraction of the tooth. Note the nice aesthetic result achieved for this patient.

It’s probably not relevant to your questions, but what I have not told you is that my father was a dentist. He taught me from the time that I was 0 that I wanted to die with my own teeth in my mouth, and he loved what he did. He died a few years ago.
